On Friday I decided to make ice cream in chemistry. Over all this project was a very interesting project, only because, I mean.. who gets to make ice cream as a project in school? Thats the main reason why I like doing independent experiments because I enjoy the idea of learning on my pace and understanding difficult subjects in ways that I will be able to understand it.
List of ingredients needed to make my ice cream:
- whole milk
- heavy cream (AKA whipped cream milk)
-sugar
- vanilla extract
-oreos
-marshmallows
The ice cream I made has marshmallows and crushed oreos in vanilla ice cream. I decided that those ingredients would match the whole theme of the galaxy because the galaxy is a little mix of everything. The vanilla ice cream was made from scratch, so that made me even more proud of what I achieved. I learned so much from this project that will help me later in many aspects of life. Though its just ice cream it does have an impact and lesson, and not just for chemistry. Along with the ice cream I made a science label to basically showcase that I connected science with my ice cream. That will also complete my 50 points for this project. There are pictures above. Feel free to browse through them.
Description of label:
I connected the idea of the periodic table into the design for my ice cream because the periodic table is every little thing that is in this world or that the world contains of. On that note I decided to make two of my own elements, one being "Oc" which surprising stands for oreo cookie and "Mm" which stands for marshmallow. Since that is what my ice cream consist of I decided to try and get creative.
If I had to do this project again I would maybe change the ingredients that were used to make the vanilla ice cream only because I notice that after it sat in the freezer for a while it had more of an ice texture. It still tasted pretty great though.
Working with Meghan was nice because we helped each other when we needed help but other than that we were able to do 2 separate concepts from this whole ice cream project.
